How You Can Help the Plainfield Area YMCA

 

Committees

Finance, Fund Raising, Marketing, Facilities, Youth, Housing, Board Development and Audit
Committees meet monthly from September through June. Your expertise is needed to move the organization forward to benefit the children and families in Plainfield and the surrounding area.

Fundraising

Help us raise funds during our Annual Campaign. The campaign goal is to raise money to provide YMCA YCares Scholarships to families and individuals who are unable to afford the full price of programs or services. Hours are flexible and any degree of committment is appreciated.

Motorcycle Fun Ride

Saturday, October 7, 2012 (rain date October 14)
If you ride a motorcycle you will enjoy this day of great riding, good food and fellowship.
All proceeds benefit summer camp scholarships.

Shut Down Week

September 5 - September 10, 2011
Paint, move equipment, refresh the pool, organize storage closet and feel good about helping to make our YMCA the best it can be for the families of Plainfield and the surrounding areas.

Tutoring

The Plainfield Area YMCA runs after-school programs at our facility and 9 different local elementary and charter schools within Plainfield. Children in our programs can always benefit from homework assistance. If you enjoy helping children and are available from 2:30pm-6:00pm or on school holidays (even a day or two a month) you will provide a great service to our YMCA kids.

Coaching

Do you love basketball, karate or soccer?  Children can benefit from your sports enthusiasm. We will work with your schedule and support your endeavors.

Special Events

Volunteers help us so much when they participate in the many special events planned throughout the year. Sometimes the events are only a few hours, therefore any degree of commitment is appreciated!

Fitness & Aquatics

Many volunteers and interns are utilized in these two departments. Swim instructors, lifeguards, trainers, and class instructors often become employed at the YMCA after working in our Volunteer and Intern Programs.
