After-School Programs

New afterschool site at the Watchung Presbyterian Church in North Plainfield!!

The Plainfield Area YMCA provides quality after-school programming to over 140 children between the ages of 5-13 in Plainfield and North Plainfield. Our curriculum focuses on Homework Support, Arts & Humanities, Science & Technology, Health & Fitness, Literacy, Socialization, character development, and Service Learning.

Fee per month: $280 ($30 annual membership and $30 registration fee not included)
Payments are billed on the 15th of the month and due on the 1st prior to month of service. For example, October’s payment must be paid by October 1st, November’s payment must be made by November 1st.  Payments can be made by cash, checks, money orders, credit cards, or online self-portal.

Rates do not include days when school is closed.  The Plainfield Area YMCA offers “Holiday Camp” for days when school is closed. The rate for child-care on those days are $30 per day.  If schools close due to an emergency (other than snow) the Plainfield Area After-School Program will be unable to provide transportation to the YMCA, but program will still be available to those who can be dropped off at the Y. If schools close early because of severe snow, all YMCA after-school programs will be cancelled.

The Plainfield Y also works with third party agencies to provide subsidies to those families that qualify.  Ask the childcare director for more detailed information.

 Plainfield Locations:  Plainfield Area Y, Barlow Elementary, Woodland Elementary, Evergreen Elementary, and Jefferson Elementary schools.
North Plainfield Location:  Watchung Avenue Presbyterian Church * 170 Watchung Ave., N. Plainfield
